oldest seed saving library

I ran across an article lately that said: "Ten years ago, a New York State librarian had the nifty idea of adding seed packets to his branch's offerings--a project that blossomed into the Holston Valley Seed Library...." Would that make the HVSL the oldest one in the country? Does anyone know of one that is older?

Thanks,

Will

Start a library.

I am interested in starting a library in my area. Are there resources to get a starter set of seeds to begin my library with? Since I am in Arizona it would have to be drought tolerant and resistant to flooding since we have a monsoon season.

The local library may be interested in this project and once I get it up and running I want to present it to them. With the hope that they might take over and I can focus on growing and canning food for my family.
